At the other end

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Well, what a rollarcoaster ride of emotions I’ve been through. Now I’ve finally arrived at the other side, more alive and experienced than before. I have finally received some closure to my first time being dumped (only click if you really want to know). I’m glad I didn’t post anything in the last month here and a bit immediately after Summer Sonic, where through depression I lost ~4kilos in a few days… I kind of moved on after two weeks (very difficult to do) immediately after Summer Sonic, but now I have the reconfirmation of a (crazy) reason for being dumped. The relationship that was, is now but good memories, as the photos in this blog show. Nevertheless, the reason why I wasn’t invited to meet the band members will forever remain a mystery…

Now, to get back into full throttle experiencing the secrets, landscapes, randomness and beauty that is Japan.

Gifu Fireworks

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Here are some photos from the fireworks in Gifu that Junna, Yurina, Yurika and I experienced earlier this month (August 4th).

Above is a short HD fading photo montage taken with my 8mm Peleng lens on a Pentax *ist DL. File download is just under 40MB, but is a quickly made 1min 20 second WMV rendered at 1280×720@~30fps.

Summer Sonic 07

Omg this was awesome!!! (For those that don’t know, Summer Sonic is possibly the second largest rock music festival in Japan)

Travis were so much better than I thought they would be live - so much audience participation! The Offspring were great as well (massive audience! see video below), albeit sometimes a little off-key, and no audience-talking-time. I didn’t realise B’z were playing, and they attracted a massive crowd in the Marine Stage (an open baseball stadium), which was most likely 99% humidity and around 40 degrees with the sunshine. For most bands we were in the front row, but Madina Lake had possibly the craziest audience (mosh).

Kyoto again

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

Last weekend for a day trip, Yurina and I met up with her friend Kana again, this time in Kyoto. To save a little money, we took the slow train there, which was rather interesting from a landscape perspective. The Japanese environment triad of mountains, flat rice fields and double storied houses is in complete contrast to Australia.

We visited Kinkakuji (the golden pavillion) which was cool, but I thought the gardens at Ginkakuji were better.

I think we had a 500 yen per person day bus pass, so we travelled in the comfort of buses while eating tim tams :)

Lastly we went to Kiramizudera (clear water place thingy), and this time I actually went there and drank the water, and not just pass the gates!

Another month gone by?

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Time’s going waaaay too quickly and I’m having a difficult time keeping up.

I had my interview for AT but got turned down because I was too polite (not bossy enough).

Last weekend on Saturday, Yurina, Yurika (her friend) and I went to Yokohama for a little sightseeing and shopping. We went around Chinatown and had all you can eat chinese for dinner (which ended up not agreeing with my stomach). I hadn’t heard the weather report in detail before leaving, so I didn’t think too much about the light rain on Saturday. We stayed at a hotel overnight, and I planned to head back to Nagoya the next morning to start work at 11.40am (it’s only 85 minutes away). In the morning, the always reliable bullet trains were shut down due to a typhoon from 8am, preventing me from leaving Tokyo! Oh well, one day’s less pay.

This evening I was planning to go to a cinema, only to find out that as far as I know, all cinemas in Japan are closed on Thursdays and Fridays! Huh!

Appetite

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I’ve been trying to lose weight around my belly for a few months now, and I’m back down to just under 75kg in the morning. I can’t eat as much as I used to. I’ve been reducing the amount of rice I eat (at Miyamoto Munashi [vending machine restaurant] I used to get myself two rice bowl refills [free], but now I can’t eat more than one bowl). I’m getting into better shape, especially after being 82kg by mid march.
